Merkantor was built to run on shared hosting. The setup wizard checks your server itself and names anything that is missing.

1. Requirements

These are the requirements your hosting plan has to meet. Most current shared hosting plans already do.

2–6. Installation steps

Upload the files

You upload the ZIP package to your domain’s directory with your hosting panel’s file manager or over FTP, then extract it. Anyone who has installed WordPress will recognise this step.

Open the setup wizard

You open your domain in a browser. The wizard checks your server: PHP version, extensions, write permissions and URL rewriting are each measured in turn.

Connect the database

You enter the name, user and password of the MySQL database you created in your hosting panel. Once the connection is made, the tables are created automatically.

Register the licence

The software is licensed per domain. You enter your licence key, and updates follow that registration.

First store settings

Logo and store name, payment and shipping details, legal texts and your first products. The panel reminds you of these steps, in order, on the dashboard.
